Following a complete renovation, the new four stars boutique hotel, the Starhotel Excelsior, was born joining two Star hotels properties, the Alexander and the Milan Excelsior. Building location, just across Bologna's Central Train Station and walking distance to the city centre, represents a strategic extremely interesting barycentre compared with city context. The hotel houses 193 terrific rooms: a superior room has been set up as a basic room. A combination of classic materials as marble, flagstone with modern dynamism of glass and steel has been used in non-traditional ways for a dramatic effect. The same blend of functionality and unexpected forms gives them character and definition as well. The public areas, lobby, lobby lounge and meetings and functions areas are a result of a new and contemporary language of easy elegance. Designers goal of making the lobbies a real living room is evidenced by the huge library that anchors one wall of the lounge (Fondente Café) and an eclectic mix of over-sized, overstuffed chairs, benches, stools, small simple tables and custom-designed tables. The design invites guest to move the furnishing around and this flexibility expands the function of the lobby to an extension of the Fondente Café which is a destination in itself. The Starhotel Excelsior offers 193 guest-rooms, (40 Superiors, 114 Executives/De, 38 Junior Suites and 1 Presidential Suite), 120-seat ARIO Restaurant, bar, fitness center, business center, meeting and conference rooms which can accommodate 450 people, garage and parking facilities with a 24-hour valet service, lobby shop and 24-hour concierge guest service
