Also of interest are the rock tombs of the Pontic kings at Amasya, and Safranbolu a typical Ottoman town with its wooden houses still almost completely intact. Due to its position as state capital, Ankara has become a cultural centre, home to theatres and the impressive art decor National Opera House.
