Standing between two historic landmarks, the Romanesque Château Comtal and the Gothic Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, the Hôtel de la Cité is set in its own glorious gardens. With its solid stone walls, wood panelling and stained-glass windows, the Hotel offers luxurious hospitality. As befits a hotel of such unique character, each of its 42 guestrooms and 19 Suites and Junior Suites is individually furnished and decorated with more than a dash of aristocratic style. Several of our rooms and suites have balconies and terraces allowing spectacular views of Carcassonne and the ramparts of the medieval Citadel, as well as the Castle. Other rooms offer views of the narrow cobble-stoned streets of the Citadel. Regularly recommended by the most important gourmet guides, La Barbacane Restaurant offers a menu combining the freshest local ingredients with innovative recipes and fine attention to detail. You can also taste a relaxing meal in the informal Chez Saskia Brasserie or enjoy a dinner al fresco in the outdoor summer restaurant, Le Jardin de l'Evêque. Enjoy swimming in the only heated pool in the citadel, horse riding, or golf at the nearby Carcassonne course. The reception desk can arrange day excursions, sightseeing and barge-cruises on the 17th century Canal du Midi.
