Description:
Culver House was built just at the end of the nineteenth century. It sits on the edge of the dunes just set back from the beautiful beach at Port Eynon. The front door is some 100 yards from the high water mark. The Culver House has twelve bedrooms and is graded by the Wales Tourist Board as a 2 star Hotel. It is situated on the edge of the sand dunes 100yds from the beach at Port Eynon. It lies at the most southerly point of the beautiful Gower peninsular. The bay is ideal for swimming and water sports. The Hotel is situated 16 miles from Swansea and approximately 15 miles from the M4. The Gower peninsular is a haven, with miles of beaches, significant area of National Trust lands and is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Excellent facilities for families, walkers, bird watchers, nature lovers and water sports devotees. Port Eynon bay holds the coveted blue flag and with a lifeguard on duty from May to September makes it an ideal family beach. Access is easy with parking directly outside the Hotel. The Hotel does not offer evening meals but does a superb hot & cold buffet breakfast full of good wholesome local ingredients attractively presented in quantities that allow you to fuel your activities on Gower. The food is of an exceptionally high standard, with vegetarian choices an integral part of the breakfast selection. Local free range eggs, fried or scrambled, are delicious. Sausages are made to a special recipe by local farmer/butcher Hugh Phillips and the bacon is specially thick cut and bursting with flavour. Also available to order are cockles and laver bread farmed by Selwyns on the North Gower Coast. Port Eynon has a long history. Well known as a fishing and smuggling haunt during the seventeenth century 22 Excise men were lodged in the village to deal with the smuggling and piracy rife on the Gower shores. Ideal for walkers and costal explorers. Not a business hotel!
